Nyein Chan Su

NCS belonged to a new generation of avant-garde Burmese artists. His works are eclectic and versatile in style, with early paintings inspired by nats, the spirits worshipped in central Burma alongside Buddhism. He is famous for his contemporary abstract expressionism, with signature broad brush strokes and contrasting blues, reds, and yellows. His “Dreamscape” series, created using a hard palette knife and soft paintbrush, is among his best-known works. He was also one of the pioneers of performance art in Myanmar.

NCS was a co-founder of Studio Square, an artist-run space and art gallery in Yangon, established in 2003. His international career was launched with participation in the 1999 Fukuoka Art Triennale in Japan. He participated in numerous exhibitions in Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Thailand. He was nominated for the APB Signature Art Prize 2011 by the Singapore Art Museum and received a Certificate of Recognition from the ASEAN Arts Awards in 2001. His artworks are in the permanent collections of the Singapore Art Museum, the Fukuoka Art Museum, and the National Gallery Singapore. He passed away on 27 February 2020.

ငြိမ်းချမ်းစု (၁၉၇၃–၂၀၂၀) သည် NCS ဟု လူသိများသော ရှေ့ဆောင်မြန်မာ့အနုပညာရှင်တစ်ဦးဖြစ်ပြီး ပန်းချီ၊ ဖျော်ဖြေတင်ဆက်မှု၊ အနုပညာတပ်ဆင်မှုနှင့် ဗီဒီယိုအနုပညာတို့ကို လွှမ်းခြုံသည့် နယ်နိမိတ်ကို တွန်းအားပေးသော လက်ရာများကြောင့် ကျော်ကြားသည်။ ၁၉၇၃ ခုနှစ်တွင် ရန်ကုန်မြို့၌ မွေးဖွားခဲ့ပြီး ၁၉၉၄ ခုနှစ်တွင် ရန်ကုန်ပန်းချီကျောင်းမှ ဘွဲ့ရရှိခဲ့ကာ ကျော်လေး၊ မြအေး၊ တင်အေးနှင့် လှိုင်းဘွားတို့အပါအဝင် ပန်းချီဆရာများထံတွင် ပညာသင်ကြားခဲ့သည်။

NCS သည် ခေတ်သစ်မြန်မာ့အနုပညာရှင်မျိုးဆက်သစ်တွင် ပါဝင်သည်။ သူ၏ လက်ရာများသည် ပုံစံအမျိုးမျိုးဖြင့် စွယ်စုံရရှိပြီး အစောပိုင်းလက်ရာများသည် ဗုဒ္ဓဘာသာနှင့်အတူ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံအလယ်ပိုင်းတွင် ကိုးကွယ်သော နတ်များမှ စိတ်ကူးစိတ်သန်းရယူထားသည်။ သူသည် ကျယ်ပြန့်သော စုတ်ချက်များနှင့် အပြာ၊ အနီ၊ အဝါဆန့်ကျင်ဘက်အရောင်များဖြင့် ခေတ်ပြိုင် စိတ္တဇဖော်ပြမှုပန်းချီအတွက် ကျော်ကြားသည်။ သူ၏ “Dreamscape” စီးရီးသည် ၎င်း၏ အကောင်းဆုံးသော လက်ရာများထဲမှ တစ်ခုဖြစ်သည်။ သူသည် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံတွင် ဖျော်ဖြေတင်ဆက်မှုအနုပညာ၏ ရှေ့ဆောင်တစ်ဦးလည်းဖြစ်သည်။

NCS သည် ၂၀၀၃ ခုနှစ်တွင် ရန်ကုန်မြို့၌ တည်ထောင်ခဲ့သော အနုပညာရှင်များ၏ နေရာနှင့် အနုပညာပြခန်း Studio Square ၏ တည်ထောင်သူတစ်ဦးဖြစ်သည်။ ၁၉၉၉ ခုနှစ် ဂျပန်နိုင်ငံရှိ Fukuoka Art Triennale တွင် ပါဝင်ခြင်းဖြင့် သူ၏ နိုင်ငံတကာအသက်မွေးဝမ်းကျောင်းကို စတင်ခဲ့သည်။ ဂျပန်၊ ဟောင်ကောင်၊ စင်ကာပူနှင့် ထိုင်းနိုင်ငံတို့တွင် ပြပွဲများစွာ ပါဝင်ခဲ့သည်။ ၂၀၁၁ ခုနှစ်တွင် စင်ကာပူအနုပညာပြတိုက်မှ APB Signature Art Prize အတွက် ဆန်ခါတင်ပါဝင်ခဲ့ပြီး ၂၀၀၁ ခုနှစ်တွင် ASEAN အနုပညာဆုပေးပွဲမှ အသိအမှတ်ပြုလက်မှတ် ရရှိခဲ့သည်။ သူ၏ လက်ရာများကို စင်ကာပူအနုပညာပြတိုက်၊ ဖူကုအိုကာအနုပညာပြတိုက်နှင့် စင်ကာပူအမျိုးသားပြခန်းတို့၏ အမြဲတမ်းစုဆောင်းမှုများတွင် ထိန်းသိမ်းထားရှိသည်။ ၂၀၂၀ ခုနှစ် ဖေဖော်ဝါရီလ ၂၇ ရက်နေ့တွင် ကွယ်လွန်ခဲ့သည်။
