Aung Myint
Aung Myint (b. 1946) is a pioneering Burmese painter and performance artist, widely considered a founder of Myanmar's experimental art movement. Born in Yangon on 27 October 1946, he graduated from Rangoon Arts and Science University in 1968 with a major in psychology. Largely self-taught, he began exhibiting in the 1960s and became a leading figure in the city's contemporary art scene.

His artistic journey evolved through distinct phases: from semi-abstract, cubist-influenced work in the mid-1960s to a “fragmented” period in the 1970s–80s, and into a highly emotional, action-painting style in the 1990s. A recurring and deeply personal theme in his work is the “Mother and Child” motif, inspired by the loss of his own mother at the age of four. His practice extends beyond the canvas to include installation, ceramic art, and performance; in 1995, he staged his first performance work, Beginning n End.
As a co-founder of the influential Inya Gallery of Art in Yangon, he provided a vital platform for modern art. His work has been featured in major international exhibitions, including the Guggenheim Museum’s 2013 “No Country” show, and is held in prestigious collections such as the Guggenheim Museum, National Gallery Singapore, and Fukuoka Asian Art Museum. He continues to live and work in Myanmar.

ရန်ကုန်မြို့၌ ဩဇာညောင်းသော ဣန္ဒြာပြခန်းကို ပူးတွဲတည်ထောင်သူတစ်ဦးအနေဖြင့် ခေတ်သစ်အနုပညာအတွက် အရေးပါသော နေရာတစ်ခုကို ဖန်တီးပေးခဲ့သည်။ သူ၏ လက်ရာများကို ဂဂျင်ဟိုင်းမ်ပြတိုက်၏ ၂၀၁၃ ခုနှစ် “No Country” ပြပွဲအပါအဝင် အဓိကနိုင်ငံတကာပြပွဲများတွင် ပြသခဲ့ပြီး ဂဂျင်ဟိုင်းမ်ပြတိုက်၊ စင်ကာပူအမျိုးသားပြခန်းနှင့် ဖူကုအိုကာအာရှအနုပညာပြတိုက်တို့အပါအဝင် ဂုဏ်သိက္ခာရှိသော စုဆောင်းမှုများတွင် ထိန်းသိမ်းထားရှိသည်။ လက်ရှိတွင် မြန်မာနိုင်ငံ၌ပင် နေထိုင်ကာ အနုပညာလုပ်ငန်းကို ဆက်လက်ဆောင်ရွက်လျက်ရှိသည်။
