This landmark exhibition at SV Gallery presents over fifty of Myanmar’s most significant artists across four generations.
The exhibition begins with the founding voices who brought Western techniques to Burmese soil, then moves through the generation that pushed painting into abstraction and satire. The third generation — the masters — brought Burmese art to the world, exhibiting internationally and winning awards. The final generation features today’s contemporary visionaries who refuse to stay in the shadow of the masters.
Throughout this journey, three central themes emerge: the dialogue between tradition and modernity, the search for national identity, and the universal in the particular.
